On August 9th, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westland, Michigan will be celebrating 150 years as a WELS church. Our original church was a wooden structure in built in 1877. The wooden building lasted 40 years and a stone church was built on that spot in 1921. “Urban Renewal” forced us to move to our current location on Glenwood Rd., Westland, Michigan in 1967. We are having a service at 10 a.m. and a luncheon afterwards in the gymnasium with lots of memorabilia on display.
